REAL PROJECT: DIFFERENT EDUCATION
The mission of the project
The REAL project aims to improve the quality of the education system by introducing teaching methods aimed at providing a comprehensive approach to traditional education for children from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
REAL proposes a program for reinforcing the academic offer which is based on four axes: Languages and Civilization, Arts, Health and Well-being, and Information and Communication Technologies.
In addition, REAL reinforces teaching by training local teachers following the principles of learner-centered teaching, including the principles of active and participatory teaching and project-based learning.
Objectives
- To contribute to the reinforcement of the Congolese education system through a teaching model aimed at the students’ integral development.
- To improve the quality of the education offer in the pilot school through the integration or reinforcement of four new subjects that we have called the four axes of integral education: Language and civilization, Arts, Healthcare and well-being, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
- To improve the quality of the education offer in the pilot school through the training of all the teachers of the school to ensure that an effective methodology focused on the learner and the use of ICT for Education are thoroughly understood and implemented.
The program of education in Brazzaville has four steps
- This stage aims to identify the pilot school, to do a SWOT analysis, and to establish an action plan. The estimated duration of this first stage is two weeks on site.
- The second stage aims to make a diagnosis of teaching practices, to plan teacher training sessions and to train teachers. This will be a three-month on-site phase.
- The third stage aims to recruit the teachers needed for the integration of the four subjects, to write the curriculum for each one of the axes, to train the new teachers and to integrate the four thematic axes into the school education program as well as to write an intermediate evaluation report. This stage will have a length of three months.
- The final step is to evaluate the project quantitatively and qualitatively and to prepare the final documents (balance sheets, results, evaluation reports). This will be done from our site in France and it will last one month. Only the core team of the REAL project will intervene in this final stage of project.
